A child loaned

Last night while writing the entry to this blog the hospital rang and informed us that Elaine's condition had worsened. We immediately returned to the Neuro ICU and spent the last 24 hours by her bedside. This evening she passed peacefully from this mortal toil into the loving arms of the God she served and loved so much.

"I'll lend you for a little time
A child of Mine." He said.
"For you to love the while she lives,
And mourn for when she's dead.
It may be six or seven years
Or twenty two or three,
But will you, till I call her back,
Take care of her for Me?
She'll bring her charms to gladden you,
And should her stay be brief,
You'll have her lovely memories
As solace for your grief.

Dear Ray and family,

My name is Peter Ediss. I was fortunate enough to meet Elaine in 2009 during a PGCE placement at the school I worked at in West Drayton. She was professional and hard-working but most importantly wonderful with the children who adored her. She was also liked and respected by all of the staff.

All of my thoughts and love are with you and the people closest to your beautiful daughter. People as wonderful as Elaine are very rare.

There are not words to describe my sadness or to describe the type of person she was. I will try with the latter. Positive, caring, selfless and refreshing are but a few. I met her at a time of great difficulty in my own life and despite her busy schedule, she had time to visit me on more than one occasion to check how I was. I will never forget her.

May God bless and comfort you through this tremendous loss.

Love Peter

"When you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling.
Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying."

This is from Elaine's favourite quotes on her facebook page.
There are so many of us crying, we have such lovely memories to cherish but would loved to have got so many more. You certainly did live your life to the quotation.
Our love and thoughts are with all of your family and friends and hope that they take comfort from the love that you have spread around xx

To Ray, Averil and Jo - like everyone else I was devastated to hear the news of Elaine's passing earlier on. I have not stopped smiling though as the memories of my time at uni with her come flooding back. It was so much fun being her friend and she always had time for anyone and everyone, friend or stranger.

She may not be with us in person any more but she will always be in the heart of everyone who knew her.

As her family you are all in my thoughts and prayers at such a difficult time and between us all we will steer each other through.

Look after yourselves and God Bless,

Brina.xxx.

So sorry to hear the sad news about Elaine. We prayed for her, and you all closest to her in our church yesterday in Oxfordshire, and know that she will now be with all the other angels in heaven.
God will give you the strength, and family and friends will give you support through this.

With love to you all Amanda, Mark & Emma xxx

Elaine was kind-hearted and caring and had one of the most infectious smiles and laughs. a personality and humour that kept high school interesting and one that will be very sorely missed. I am sorry we didnt stay in touch but my thoughts are with you and your family.
